About this Seminar
This presentation will focus on the bidirectional relationship between periodontal disease and systemic diseases and will focus on how the oral bacterial biofilm and chronic oral inflammation impact systemic inflammatory conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular disease. There will be focus on the pathogenesis of periodontitis, risk factors and the role of interventions in improving oral health and systemic health.

About Dr. Tony Crivello
Dr. Crivello received his dental degree from McGill University. He received his certificate in periodontics and intravenous conscious sedation as well as a Master of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the recipient of numerous clinical and academic recognitions including the American Academy of Periodontology’s Balint Orban Prize honouring research conducted while in graduate school. Dr. Crivello is a Fellow in the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. He is a Board Certified Periodontist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He lectures nationally and internationally on periodontics, dental implants and cosmetic periodontal therapy. Dr. Crivello maintains a full-time private practice limited to periodontics and implant dentistry in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
