•Limitations of orthodontic treatment in adults and strategies to mitigate those limitations.
•Interdisciplinary treatment including pre-prosthetic ortho, surgical orthodontics, and ortho-perio considerations.
•The complex relationship between occlusion, orthodontics, and TMD.

Dr Codey Pilgrim

About Dr Codey Pilgrim

Dr. Pilgrim is a board-certified orthodontist and Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Memorial University of Newfoundland and completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS. After graduation, he pursued a residency in pediatric dentistry at The Hospital for Sick Children through the University of Toronto. From there he moved on to the University of Alberta to complete a Master of Science in Medical Sciences, Orthodontics. He is thrilled to be back in his home province of Newfoundland as the owner/operator of Anchor Orthodontics. 

During his specialty training, Dr. Pilgrim conducted ground-breaking research on communication between orthodontists and their patients’ parents. He is very passionate about making sure families feel comfortable, informed, and an equal part of shared decision-making. He is dedicated to continued learning and growth as a professional and is currently working towards publication of his research to help inform patient-provider communication guidelines. He serves on the Atlantic selection committee for Smiles 4 Canada, an organization that helps provide orthodontic care to families in need. Additionally, he serves as member-at-large for both the New and Younger Members Committee with the CAO and the Early Career Committee with the RCDC.

Dr. Pilgrim is a proud, born and bred Newfoundlander who calls St. John’s home! He is very happy to be here with his wife, Beth, and his sons, Finley and Theodore. His personal interests include hockey (he’s an ever-suffering Maple Leafs fan), road trips, skiing, hiking, and family time.
